Hacker breached a security company and stole $6.5 million worth of credit card numbers, the company said on Wednesday.
The security company said it has identified the hacker and is in the process of identifying all affected customers.
The company said the breach happened in January, and it was not immediately clear how long the hack had been ongoing.
The hacker broke into a security vendor’s computer system, where they found a database of credit cards belonging to the company, said a statement from DoorSecurity.
The breach took place when the company was still in business, and the stolen data included the card numbers for at least 100,000 customers, it said.
It was not clear if any customers received their stolen credit cards.
DoorSecurity said it is investigating the breach and will take steps to mitigate its impact.
The credit card information has been encrypted and will be destroyed once the data is securely deleted.
